Retired Twice and Still Active

Just before heading down from our meager 3 mile hike on the Colorado Trail to Harvard Lakes, we met another 500 miler on his 16th day on the trail. Eugene, an Air Force Colonel who, after retiring from the service, became a High School Science Teacher.  He is retired again but no less active.

Eugene’s trek, from Denver to Durango, is just about 500 miles. We had the pleasure of hiking and talking with him for a while. We enjoyed a lively and enlightening conversation. Like many of the other fit Boomers we met on our CO journey, Eugene has been active almost as long as he can remember. But, don’t be discouraged, it is never too late and we will show you many examples of Boomers who have gotten better with age.

Meanwhile enjoy our short interview, on the trail with Eugene.

Boomers Plan Adventure Run!

Johnathon and Carl, two Colorado Boomers, are on the “Midland Trail” in Buena Vista CO planning an annual adventure run. Colorado boasts one of the longest life expectancies in the Nation and with many boomers, like these two, choosing to live here it is easy to see why.
The Midland Hill in Buena Vista Colorado begins on a bridge over the Arkansas River. It has several hiking, running and mountain bike trails. From easy to advanced, something for everyone. Hikers, who want a real challenge, should hike or run to the Midland peak, approx. 1500 feet in about 2 miles.
