What to Take & Why, My COVID 19 Strategy

This is simply one person’s opinion.
This is my personal preference and while I do not claim to be an expert, it works for me. This information is shared to help your make your own decisions, be it, for times like these or as a lifestyle. As usual, you should discuss these decisions with a medical professional and do your own research.

Like most of us, I have been watching, reading and listening to learn how we can protect ourselves. The only “potential” treatments you read and hear about are pharmaceuticals. Very little, if any, information is out there regarding natural treatments like Vitamins, Herbs and Minerals. Why that is and entirely separate topic worth discussing but today, let’s just talk about what to take and why.

The debate over the malaria drug Hydroxychloroquine is rife with special interests so I’m looking at the actual reports from the field and those reports look extremely promising. Not only are physicians prescribing it for patients with COVID 19, many are taking it themselves as a defense against COVID 19. Most of us can’t get a hydroxychloroquine prescription without first having tested positive for the virus. Even if we could get it, do we all want to take a pharmaceutical for months or maybe a year or more, just in case?

Is there a natural alternative to Hydroxychloroquine? To answer that, one needs to first understand what hydroxychloroquine does and find a vitamin herb or mineral that does the same or similar.  Hydroxychloroquine is a “Zinc ionophore”. In the most basic of terms, that means, it helps the cells retain Zinc or actually absorb more Zinc. Zinc has been shown, in studies, to block the replication of viruses in those cells. That action is what researchers are looking at as a treatment against COVID 19 and as a prophylactic to protect against getting the virus.

One natural Zinc ionophore is EGCG (epigallocatechin-3-gallate) a catechin found in Green Tea. Unfortunately, a cup or two of green tea will not do the trick and even if one drank tea all day, the absorption rate of the EGCG into the system may not be good enough to make a difference. Green Tea Extract is a more efficient way to get EGCG but, again, absorption is less than perfect. I choose “tigovit” Green Tea Complex, out of Germany. Tigovit combines Bioperine (pepper) and Ester C (Vitamin C) with the extract making the EGCG in tigovit up to 50 times more bioavailable (absorbed) than other extracts. Tigovit is also decaffeinated so I don’t have to be zipped up, all day, just to get sufficient amounts of EGCG into my system. Keep you EGCG intake below 800 mg, to be safe.

A second natural Zinc ionophore is Quercetin and I want to take two Zinc ionophores. According to Wikipedia, “Quercetin is a plant flavonol from the flavonoid group of polyphenols. It is found in many fruits, vegetables, leaves, seeds, and grains; red onions and kale are common foods containing appreciable amounts of Quercetin.” But, like EGCG in green tea, can I consume enough to get the Quercetin I need? Can’t answer that question accurately so combining Quercetin with tigosol’s bioavailable EGCG is the central focus of my strategy.  I searched Amazon for a Quercetin product with good reviews at a reasonable price. I choose Amazing Formulas – Quercetin 500 Mg capsules.

Now I have two natural Zinc ionophore’s, but I may also need some Zinc. According to Wikipedia ,“ Zinc is found in oysters, meat, beans, and nuts”. However….”Zinc deficiency may affect up to 2 billion people worldwide.” I have no intention of being deficient, at a time like this, so I found, on Amazon, a reasonably priced Zinc product with good reviews. And the winner is!  Good State – Ionic Liquid Zinc Ultra Concentrate.

I already take turmeric curcumin, for its many benefits, for more than 5 years and together with tigovit for 2 years. A recent study indicated Turmeric Curcumin combined with green tea extract enhanced the absorption of the EGCG. That’s a win, win for sure. At 73, I’m doing well and have not had a cold or flu for the 2 years I was taking both. I used to take the Tumeric capsules with the pepper in them but changed to liquid caps which are reported to be even more bioavailable. I like NovaSOL Turmeric Curcumin Softgels from A1 Vitality

let us not forget the gut. The gut is so important, I take Tigosol-Bacillus Subtillus Probiotic with vitamin D3 and EGCG. Studies indicate Bacillus Subtilis (a probiotic) may neutralize bad gut bacteria that could lower one’s resistance. The additional EGCG is a plus and vitamin D3 is a must have for times like these.  BTW tigosol does wonders for my, let’s call it, my bathroom experience.

The Bottom Line, for me in times like these.

tigovit Green Tea Complex, 1 to 3 times a day with

NovaSOL Turmeric Curcumin Softgels from A1 Vitality

Amazing Formulas – Quercetin, 1 to 2 times a day.

Good State – Ionic Liquid Zinc Ultra Concentrate, once a day. Don’t overdo it, it takes a lot but one can overdose on Zinc.

Tigosol-Bacillus Subtilis Probiotic with vitamin D3 and EGCG, once a day.

Optional but not really:
Vitamin B12 capsules or a Multi Vitamin containing B12, once a day.
